Q. If i have water line break after hours who do i call?
A. If you have an emergency service request after normal business hours please call the Water Plant at 355-4991 for the number to contact an on call Water Department employee.
Q. Is there a charge to have my water turned on or off?
A. No. If you have a service request please call the BPA office to schedule an appointment at least 24 hours before needed.
Q. Does the Village clean the sidewalks when it snows?
A. Sidewalks are the responsibility of the home owners to maintain but the Village will clean them if the Street Department feels the the streets are safe and if time permits.
Q. If i buy a home in the village do i have to come into the office to have my water turned on?
A. Yes. The Village does require a deposit and a water/sewer application filled out before water service is turned on.
Q. I had a leak do i still have to pay the full water/sewer bill?
A. Yes.
Q. What do the letters on the left of my bill stand for?
A. -WC is Water Charge. This is what the water cost you.
-SC is Sewer Charge. This what the sewer service cost you.
-WDC is Water Debt Charge.this is to pay for the water plant renovation loan. This is billed to every home owner regardless if the water is on or not.
-SDC is Sewer Debt Charge. This is to pay for the sewer system loan. This is billed to every home owner regardless if water is on or not.
Q. How is my water usage calculated?
A. The village meters water in cubic feet. It takes 7.5 gallons of water to fill 1 cubic foot.
Q. What is the minimum water use?
A. The minimum usage is 350 cubic feet.
Q.What is the monthly bill for 350 cubic foot usage.
A. With water usage, sewer usage and debt charges your bill will be $84.00
Q. How much does a gallon of water cost me?
A. A gallon of water costs you less than one cent.
(Ex.) for 350 cubic feet of water.
Actual water usage cost $15.60
Sewer usage cost $ 9.60
= $25.20
25.20 divided by 350 (cubic feet)
= .072 cents
.072 divided by 7.5 (gallons per cubic foot)
Total .0096 cents
Q. How safe is the water i drink?
A. The village tests daily to meet EPA requirements so your water is safer than bottled water.
Q. How can i pay my bill?
A. You have three options ~
1. Bring your bill in during regular hours.
2. Mail your bill.
3. Place in drop box in door to office.
Q. What forms of payment can i use?
A. We accept Cash,Check or Money Order.
Q. Why are the fire hydrants different colors?
A. The colors represent how much water the hydrant can flow in case of a fire, Red hydrants flow Less than 500 GPM - Orange hydrants flow 500-999 GPM - Green hydrants flow 1000-1499 GPM and Blue hydrants flow 1500 GPM or more.
Q. How often do you estimate water meter readings?
A. Occasionally we may have to estimate readings during the winter due to ice or snow. If your meter reading is estimated your bill will have a notification on it.
